Aufgrund der starken Nachfrage habe ich mich dazu entschlossen hier meinen R5 Aluminium Dome, als Kleinserie anzubieten. Eine Einzelanfertigung ist kostentechnisch sehr schwierig und auch in dieser Kleinserie ist der Aufwand für die Herstellung recht hoch.
Der Dome besteht aus WIG geschweißten Blechplatten und ist den vorhandenen Originalabmessungen so weit wie möglich nachempfunden. Vorlage war unter anderem ein 3D Druck Dome von Michael Baddeley.
Der Dome besteht aus einem Bauteil, bei dem der Dome-Ring gleich mit eingebaut ist. Dieser Dome-Ring sollte normalerweise bei allen Astromech-Droiden den gleichen Lochkreis haben.
Somit wäre der R5 Dome direkt mit einem R2 Dome zu tauschen.
Die Streben vom Nacken sind aus CNC gefrästen Stäben, die von innen verschraubt werden. Insgesamt ist dieser Dome sehr leicht konstruiert und durch die Blechverarbeitung kann der Außenradius an einigen Stellen leicht abweichen.
Die Fächer im Kopf sind aus gekanteten 1 mm Aluminium Schalen, die ebenfalls von innen im Kopf befestigt werden.
Um die Klappen im Kopf öffnen zu können, habe ich zusätzlich 1 mm Blechplatten gemacht, die von innen im Kopf befestigt werden. Hier können dann die üblichen Scharniere mit Servos zum Öffnen verwendet werden.

Due to strong demand, I have decided to offer my R5 aluminum dome here as a small series. A one-off production is very difficult in terms of costs and even in this small series the effort required for production is quite high.
The dome is made of TIG welded sheet metal plates and is based on the existing original dimensions as closely as possible. The template was, among other things, a 3D printed dome by Michael Baddeley.
The dome consists of a component in which the dome ring is installed. This dome ring should normally have the same bolt pattern on all astromech droids.
The R5 Dome would therefore have to be exchanged directly with an R2 Dome.
The struts from the neck are made of CNC milled rods that are screwed from the inside. Overall, this dome is very light in construction and due to the sheet metal processing, the outer radius may vary slightly in some places.
The compartments in the head are made of folded 1 mm aluminum shells, which are also attached to the inside of the head.
In order to be able to open the flaps in the head, I made additional 1 mm sheet metal plates that are attached to the head from the inside. The usual hinges with servos can then be used to open it.

Der Dome ist nur grob vor geschliffen und muss für eine perfekte Lackierung noch bearbeitet werden.
Bei den Full Domes sind die Top Panele ausgeschnitten und alle Teile bereits montiert.
Beim Basic sind die Extrateile NICHT ausgeschnitten und es werden keine Fächer und Streben mitgeliefert. Die entsprechenden Daten für diese Teile findet Ihr im Anhang unten.

The dome has only been roughly sanded and still needs to be processed for a perfect paint job.
For the full domes, the top panels are cut out and all parts are already assembled.
With the Basic, the extra parts are NOT cut out and no compartments or struts are included. You can find the corresponding data for these parts in the appendix below.
